We will now release our 1st Edition of the CABC Men's AAA Top 10 Rankings for the 2024 season. The list is meant to have some fun and grow the sport of baseball at the Men's AAA level.
This edition of the Top 10 Rankings will be a pre-season ranking of teams. Due ot the fact that a lot of teams are still in the midst of building their rosters for this year, this round will be based on regular season record from last year as well as results from provincial playoff tournaments. Due to this fact, I am sure there will be a lot of jockeying up and down for the first couple of weeks for the season.
So ..lets get the fun rolling for the 2024 season!!
Teams to Watch (Honorable Mentions)
*Calgary Rockies (11-7; Sunburst League)
-Strong rookie season for the Rockies. Lost in the Sunburst League Final to the Sherwood Park A's
*Regina Trappers (12-4; Qu'Appelle Valley League)
-The Trappers had a great season bowing out in the league semi-finals in playoffs. They were also the finalists at the Canadians in Red Deer
*Thornhill Reds (14-10; Greater Toronto Baseball League)
-Reds had a strong campaign in 2023 culminating in a GTBL Playoff Championship
*Marysburg Royals (16-4; Saskatoon League)
-Another strong season for the Royals as they captured the Saskatoon League Playoff title in 2023
*Jets de Montreal (17-10; Ligue de Quebec)
-Jets had a strong season in league play but fell short in the semi-finals in the LBMQ playoffs
*Pirates de St Jean sur Richelieu (18-9; Ligue de Quebec)
-Pirates also had a strong season in the LBMQ but fell short in the playoff semi-finals as well.
CABC Pre-Season Top 10 Rankings
#10 - Cactus de Victoriaville (17-10; Ligue de Quebec)
-The Cactus had a strong 2023 season losing in the LBMQ League finals to Acton Vale.
#9 - Sherwood Park A's (11-5; Sunburst League)
-The A's had anpther great season last year resulting in a 2nd straight Sunburst League title. They will be attending the Canadians this August in Tecumseh as Team Alberta
#8 - Tecumseh Thunder (18-4; Can-Am League)
-The Thunder had another strong season in 2023 culminating with a Can-Am Playoff Title. They will be looking for a strong 2024 as they prepare to host the Canadian Championships
#7 - Sarnia Brigade (17-4; Southwestern League)
-The Brigade had a good season in 2023 winning a Southwestern League Playoff title as well as advancing to the Final 5 at the Ontario Provincial Elimination Tournament
#6 - Windsor Stars (16-6; Can-Am League)
-The Stars had a great 2023 season. They finished 2nd in the Can-Am Playoffs and also represented Ontario at the Canadian Championships where they bowed out in the quarter-finals.
#5 - Charlottetown Islanders (22-10; New Brunswick League)
-The Islanders had a great run in 2023 culminating in an NBSBL League Championship defeating the Fredericton Royals. They will also be going to the Canadians in Tecumseh this August as Team NB.
#4 - Castors d'Acton Vale (20-7; Ligue de Quebec)
-The Castors had a great season season including an impressive playoff run that ended with an LBMQ League Championship with a win over the Cactus de Victoriaville in the finals.
#3 - Cascades de Shawinigan (22-5; Ligue de Quebec)
-The Cascades were the top team in the regular season in the LBMQ. There playoff run was cut short though with a loss in the quarter-finals in seven games.
#2 - Etobicoke Rangers (21-3; COBA Major League)
-The Rangers had a great season in 2023. They captured the regular season pennant for the 2nd time in the last three years and also won the COBA Major Playoff title last season.
#1 - Darthmouth Mooseheads (22-5; Nova Scotia League)
-The Mooseheads had an impressive 2023 season taking the NSSBL regular season pennant and criused to a league title in the playoffs. They will be the NS rep for the Canadian in Tecumseh in August.

Again, we expect a lot of shuffling and movement as teams start to fill out their rosters as well as league play starting in some leagues in the coming weeks. We are looking forward to another exciting season of baseball across the country.
