CABC Men's AAA Top 10 Rankings (June 30th, 2024)
7/2/2024by CABC Admin

We will now release our 3rd edition of the CABC Men's AAA Top 10 Rankings for the 2024 season. The list is meant to have some fun and grow the sport of baseball at the Men's AAA level. These rankings are based on games played from Jun 16th - June 30th, 2024.

I have done as much scouring of webpages as I can to try and make the rankings as legit as possible. I have used regular season results and stats for all teams and at the request of many will start to use tournament results that I can get my hands on to make the rankings as legit as possible. The number at the end of each team in brackets is their ranking from the pre-season rankings if they were on the list.

Again, as stated before, this is meant to have a bit of fun and create some chatter across the country about this level of baseball. Everything is not going to be perfect everytime and evertyone is entitled to their opinion with this stuff as well. Without further ado....here we go for Round 3:

National Top 10 Rankings

#10 - Cartwright Twins (11-1; 1st Place Border League) (NR)

The Twins make their first appearance into the National Top 10 Rankings this year as they currently lead the Border League standings. They have been playing great baseball all year but being new to the CABC radar we wanted to see if they would be able to keep up that pace and they have certainly met the challenge. The Twins were an impressive 5-0 over the course of the last two weeks including a pair of wins over Carman and single wins over Winkler, Pilot Mound and Baldur. The Twins will get a good test coming up over the next little bit as they have some games against some top clubs in their loop.

#9 - Burlington Brants (8-2; 2nd Place COBA Major League) (NR)

The Burlington Brants are also a new addition to our National Top 10 Rankings this week as they come in at the #9 spot. The Brants got out of the gates a little slow this year as they ran into a bit of weather and once on the field they dropped their first two games of the year. Since then, the Brants have been on a pretty good tear. They are one of the hottest teams in the country right now as they have won eight league games in a row including going 4-0 in this past two week timeframe. Burlington looks as if they are starting to play some great baseball and will be a tough out each night at the park.

#8 - Altona Bisons (12-2; 2nd Place Border League) (HM)

After being an honorable mention the last rankings we posted, the Altona Bisons have finally cracked into the Top 10 Rankings coming in at #8 this week. The Manitoba based club has had an exceptional season this far in the Border League as they have been sitting near the top of the standings all season long. They were an impressive 3-0 in their league games over the past couple of weeks including wins over Winkler and a double header sweep of the Pilot Mound Pilots. Like Cartwright, they enter a tough stretch of their schedule and will be tested for sure in some of those games.

#7 - Ilderton Riverhawks (7-0-1; 1st Place Southwestern League) (8)

The Ilderton Riverhawks slide up a spot from our previous rankings to grab the #7 spot in our National Top 10 Rankings in this edition. The Riverhawks have shown up well this year in league play as they have yet to lose a game but with a reduced league schedule this year the spotlight will be on them in tournament play to see how they match up against the top teams in the province. They were 1-1 at a rain shortened Vaughan Tourney this yeat which saw them defeat the host Vaughan before dropping their next game to Newmarket 4-1. They will also be at the Hap Walter this year and have drawn the Windsor Stars in the Elims so some good tests coming up for this Riverhawks club.

**No statistical info is available to list top hitters and pitchers

#6 - Red Deer Riggers (8-4; T-1st Place Sunburst League) (9)

The Red Deer Riggers jump a few spots in our National Top 10 Rankings as they come in at #6 this time around moving up from #9 in our previous rankings. The Riggers have continued their strong play following their tournament win in St Albert as they went 2-1 during this two week span in league play. The Red Deer club defeated the Sherwood Park A's and the Edmonton Padres but dropped a tight 5-1 decision to the Edmonton Cubs at RE/MAX Field. Its getting down to crunch time for the Rigs now as the playoffs are just a few weeks away so they will look to continue their strong play heading into those games.

#5 - Edmonton Cubs (8-4; T - 1st Place Sunburst League) (5)

The Edmonton Cubs find themselves back in the National Top 10 Rankings this time around as they reatin their #5 spot from two weeks ago. After failing to qualify for the finals at the St Albert Tournament, the Cubs got right back to work in league play as they went 2-1 over the last two weeks to keep pace with the Red Deer Riggers atop the Sunburst League standings. They had a big win against the Riggers 5-1 before splitting a double dip against the Calgary Rockies at Webber Athletic Park. With the Calgary Diamondbacks right on the heels of both these clubs, it should be an interesting finish to the year in Alberta.

#4 - Newmarket Hawks (7-2; 1st Place Greater Toronto League) (3)

After coming out of nowhere two weeks ago, the Newmarket Hawks find themselves back in our Top 10 Rankings coming in this week at the #4 spot overall. The Hawks had a quiet two weeks in league play as they went 1-1 dropping a tight decision to the East York Bulldogs while bouncing back with a win the following night 8-1 at home against the Thornhill Reds. The Hawks also attended the Vaughan tournament a couple of weekends ago winning the only game they played 4-1 over Ilderton before the rest of the tournament was washed out. The Hawks have a busy next couple of weeks including the Hap Walters Tournament so the club should get a good test as they gear up for the Elimination Tournament.

In the last two weeks, the Acton Vale club went an impressive 5-0 in LBMQ league play including wins over St Jean sur Richelieu, Granby, Thetford, Laurentides and Montreal. They started off with a tough 4-2 loss to Sherbrooke before rebounding to beat both Shawinigan and Coaticook by a score of 5-4.
