Brampton Native Murphy to Play Overseas in 2025

Aidan Murphy will be just a few miles away from Dave Dash Memorial Field when he kicks off his 2025 baseball season. The big Brampton Royals 3B/RHP will trade in his royal blue Brampton jersey just for this year as he travels overseas to play professional baseball in Germany for the Fussen Royal Bavarians. The 25-year old will get right into it as he is slated to start playing right away when he arrives in Germany.

I have had my son as Upper Deck Baseball Academy working indoors with coach and baseball guru Frank Fascia over the past couplke of months. Coach Fascia has been taking him through his paces working on pitching and hitting each week we have been there. Even with the cold weather outside, one constant every week was seeing Murphy there taking a bunch of swings trying to get game ready for his season in Germany.

Here in Ontario, Murphy got his start with Men's AAA baseball in 2021 as he played up with the Brampton Royals as an under-age player that year. "Because of Covid, there wasnt much baseball happening in the area in 2021" said Murphy via email. "That year, I wanted to challenge myself a bit and played up at the Men's AAA at 21 years of age. Instantly, I loved that level of ball and my teammates were wonderful people who were great to play along side."

Muprhy also polished his craft at Humber for five years playing on the baseball team there. Seems to be a Murphy family thing as Murphy along with his other three siblings all attended the school as well and were successful in their academic and athletic pathways. Meaghan was an outstanding softball player for five years winning team MVP. Griffin was apart of the extramural volleyball team at Humber also winning team MVP while other brother Keegan also played five years of baseball culminating with an induction into the Humber Hawks Sports Hall of Fame.

Along with his siblings, Murphy has a lot of high praise for his parents Peter and Christine. "No matter what we wanted to do in life, our parents were always our biggest fans" said Murphy. "They were and still are so supportive of everything we want to do in life. When I mentioned I wanted to go to Germany for the summer, they were so supportive and enocuraging of my decision. We all have so much apprecation for what our parents have supported us through. We love them both and appreciate them for everything they have done for all of us."

When asked who has had the biggest effect on his baseball career, Murphy gave me a short list of people although he mentioned "there have been so many people who have helped me." First on the list was his parents. "whether it was going back to school for another year or allowing me to make the decision to go overseas for a year, they always supported my decision." Next name mentioned was brother Keegan. "He always gave me so much good advice and expected a lot out of me. He was hard on some days but I appreciate him so much for challenge me and being there for me."

Next name was Royals SS/RHP Sam Lebel. "Anytime I wanted to get work in in the offseason I would always text Sam. We would get swings in together and help each other improve." Final name mentioned to me was Humber Baseball bench boss Troy Black. Black, a former Men's AAA baseball player himself, played a number of years for the powerhouse Mississauga SW Twins as well as a successful career at the University of Maine in the NCAA. "Troy not only polished me as a baseball player but also as a person" said Murphy. "Having a great coach like him makes the biggest difference. He taught me how to be a better fielder, and a better leader. He instilled a lot of confidence and trust in me and allowed me to play better."

For now, Murhpy only plans on staying in Germany for this coming season. "I am playing for the Füssen Royal Bavarians in southern Germany. We play in the south division of the league with eight teams total and play around 30 regular season games. My plan is to just play overseas this one year and travel as much as possible. I'm not opposed to opportunities coming up but my plan is one year. After that, I am planning on coming back home to work, and most likely play another season with the Brampton Men's AAA team if my brother is playing.
