Carlyle Cardinals Capture Saskatchewan Provincial Title

For the first time in the team's history, the Carlyle Cardinals have won the Tier 1 Saskatchewan Provinical Tournament Championship after they defeated the Regina Rockies 11 - 1 in the final game last sunday in Saskatoon. 

 

On Friday night, the Cardinals opened the tournament with a narrow 3 - 2 win over the Regins Rockies. Dan Ramussen threw six innings for the Cards to pick up the win. Cody Rock came in to throw the 7th inning to record the save. He also led the offense for Carlyle belting a 2-run HR. Now sitting at 1 - 0, the Cardinals matched up with the Saskatoon Hoppers on Saturday and they won that game by a score of 8 - 4. Ethan Scott went the distance on the mound to pick up the win for Carlyle.

 

With a 2 - 0 record, the Carlyle club now advanced to the provincial semi-finals and a date with the Saskatoon Outlaws. The Cards bats came out hot in this one has they pounded out 13 hits in an 8 - 2 win. Cody Rock went the distance on the mound as they imroved to 3 - 0 on the weekend and another match up against the Regina Rockies in the championship game. In this game, the Cardinals left no doubt as they broke open a close game winning 11 - 1 in the end. Cody Rock, once again, went the distance picking up his 2nd win of the weekend. 

 

A huge congratulations to the whole Carlyle Cardinals team and coaches on a fantatsic weekend of baseball. A big thank you to the Saskatoon Hoppers organization as well on hosting an amazing event for all of the teams.
