Team Quebec Downs Team Saskatchewan in Semi-Final #1

Team Quebec has moved one step closer to a 3rd straight Canadian Men's Championship Gold Medal as they defeated Team Saskatchewan by a score of 6 - 2 in Semi-Final #1 at Currie Field in Regina. 

 

The Quebec contingent got out of the gates early in this one as they scored two runs in the top of the 1st inning off of Team Saskatchewan starter Rhett Feser. Not phased, Team Sask would get one run back in the bottom of that inning and add another in the bottom of the 2nd inning off of Quebec starter Jonathan Paquet to tie the game 2 - 2 after two innings. 

 

Team Quebec wouyld claim the lead back for good in the 4th inning as they would score one run that inning to take a 3 - 2 lead. They would add one run in the 6th and two more in the 7th off of Team Saskatchewan reliever Andrew Baum to take this game by a 6 - 2 score. 

 

Josue Peley, throwing 2 2/3 innings of relief for Team Quebec, gets the win in this game. He allowed no runs on just one hit. Starter Jonathan Paquet went 4 1/3 innings allowing two runs (none earned) on five hits walking three and striking out five. Rhett Feser takes the loss for Team Saskatchewan going six innings allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits walking two and striking out five as well. 

 

At the plate, Quebec was led by David Gauthier who was 2-for-4 with a pair of singles, a run scored and tweo RBIs. Leonardo Ochoa was 2-for-4 with two singles, a run scored and an RBI while Michel Dagenais was 2-for-3 with two singles and an RBI. Payton Friesen and Tom Hooker were both 2-for-4 to led Team Saskatchewan at the dish with Hooker scoring a run and Friesen collecting an RBI. 

 

Team Quebec now advances to the Gold Medal game at 7pm tonight (local time) while Team Saskatchewan will try and grab a bronze medal at 4pm.
