Team Saskatchewan has captured the 2025 Canadian Men's Baseball Championship bronze medal in an all Saskatchewan battle. After a very narrow 6 - 2 loss to a very tough Team Quebec, Team Sask bounced back a few hours latewr with a 13 - 3 mercy shortened win over the host Regina Trappers in an excellent showcase of the youth and talent the province has coming up the pipeline.
The Trappers would actially strike first in this one as they put up single runs in both the 2nd and 3rd innings to grab an early 2 - 0 lead. That would be the high point for them on this day though as Team Saskatchewan woiuld plate a whopping 10 runs in the bottom half of the 3rd inning to take a 10 - 2 lead. They would grab two more runs in the bottom of the 4th inning to extend that lead to 12 - 2. The Trappers would answer back with one in the top of the 5th inning but Saskatchewan would get a single run in the 6th inning to end the game vuia the mercy rule.
Dylan Solie, who plays for the Regina Rockies in the QVBL, would get the start in this game and delivered a complete game gem as he would go the distance tossing six innings allowing three runs (two earned) on just six hits. He would walk no one and strike out three to collect the bronze medal clinching win. Zane Pollon drew the starting assignment for the Trappers and would take the loss going 2 1/3 innings allowing six runs (three earned) on five hits while walking three and striking out two. Cole Paquin and Takao Cookson would also see some time on the mound in this game as well for Regina.
At the plate, Team Saskatchewan's 15-hit attack was led by 19 year old Lucas Geisler who was 3-for-3 with a triple, a walk, two runs scored and an RBI. Pitcher Solie helped his own cause going 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and four RBIs while Devon Farrell was 1-for-2 with a walk, a pair of runs and two RBIs. Dylan Edmands was the only Trapper with more than one hit going 2-for-3 while Nolan Bracken and Griffin Keller each had an RBI for Regina.
Congrats to both team on an excellent week of baseball at this year's championships. Also, a huge thank you Mark Bracken, Nolan Dezotell, Matt "Mopper" Miller, Josh Miller and all of the host committee for putting on an amazing event.
